Go! 2012 – Peru

When: July 4 – July 16, 2012

Where: Requena, Peru. We will fly into Iquitos, the largest city in the Peruvian rainforest, with a population of around 800,000. We will then take a jet boat down the Amazon to Requena, 104 miles southwest of Iquitos. Requena has a population of around 100,000.

Who: High school through college age

What: We will be working with the local church and will customize our ministry schedule to meet any needs that they might have. Our ministry time will likely include youth and children’s ministry, school assemblies, plaza ministry using drama, music and balloon tying, helping with scheduled worship services, and teaching and encouraging the local church.

Itinerary: Although subject to change, our possible itinerary is as follows:

  • 7/4 Fly out of Anchorage
  • 7/5 Arrive in Iquitos. Our hosts from the MEPI Bible Institute will meet us at the airport with a bus and transport us to the mission. We will have some time for resting and possible evening ministry.
  • 7/6 Travel to Requena. We will be accompanied by Pastor Juan Rubio and our translators.
  • 7/7-7/12 Ministry in Requena.
  • 7/13 Travel to Iquitos
  • 7/14 Ministry day in Iquitos
  • 7/15 Sunday morning worship in Iquitos. After worship, we will get our things from the Bible School and the bus will take us to the airport
  • 7/16 Arrive in Anchorage

Cost: 2500.00

What do I need?: To start out, download and the Registration Form and Support Letter.

  • Complete the Registration Form and the medical release and give the reference form to a Christian adult who knows you well.
  • Customize the support letter and mail it out to your friends and family. Apply for your passport immediately!
  • Ask your doctor if they can give you your shots (click here for more info), otherwise shots are available at Capstone Family Medicine at 3223 East Palmer-Wasilla Highway  Wasilla, AK.
  • Attend our first team meeting on March 25 at 7pm, here at the church.
